Moonlit Angel
By: Cory L. Clark
Silvery sun come light the woodland
Home to trees divine and a vivid scene
Sublime moon revives my ancient path
Leading to my angelic midnight dream
My step has not trot this path
Since my days of youth and energy
As I walk with the moon as my guide
I near the field I wished to see
I stopped dead, once my eyes caught glimpse
Of a beautiful angel dancing under the black sky
The starry lights bounced off her white dress
This girl was much more to the normal eye
I watched as she leapt amongst my field
The black cloak of trees hiding me
I dare move forward, to see better this angel
but even in shadows, she happened to see
Silence imbued the majestic wood
But I saw not fear in her eyes
Soothing forest working it's midnight magic
And soon the tension dies
Now facing the glowing night
She gifts a smiling face
Her looks of innocence
Add to the warm embrace
I emerge from shadows cast
By the trees I once held dear
I gaze upon the summer stars
And to the angel, I draw near
Being near this young, sweet angel
I feel the warm, heavenly light
"Please stay, be with me"
She said with the symphony of the night
Time simply didn't exist
While we sat, hand-in-hand
Staring up to the midnight moon
That lights my forgotten land
The night isn't without end
As the sun forces out the moon
Night guardians now find rest
For dawn was approaching soon
We smiled to each other and stood watching
The ending of our night
"I hope we meet again sometime" She said
As she faded out of sight
I felt great loss
But inside I was well
For there will be other nights
To see my moonlit angel
